Cory, (01)
Yes, there are books that go into great detail on these
and related issues. (02)

I recommend my KR book: (04)
Sowa, John F. (2000) _Knowledge Representation:
Logical, Philosophical, and Computational Foundations_,
Brooks/Cole Publishing Co., Pacific Grove, CA. (05)

That is inevitable when different communities work independently
on closely related issues. That is why I recommend my book as
one of the very few that explicitly and implicitly take into
account the traditions, terminologies, and methodologies of
five different, but related communities: linguistics, logic,
philosophy, artificial intelligence, and commercial IT. (09)
If you don't want to pony up the exorbitant price that the
publisher charges (they originally promised me a "suggested
retail price" of $39), you can start with my Guided Tour
of Ontology on the web: (010)
