Reasons.    (04)

"Type" versus "Class" appears to have:     (05)

a) consistency with a 1905's C.S.Pierce trichotomy of signs:
    Tinge/Tone [Mark] - Token - "Type" (EP-Vol-II.32 pag. 488);    (06)

b) more generality in Computer Science practice, 
    (for instance in C++ a "Class" is defined as an 
    Abstract Data "Type");    (07)

c) more generality and neutrality in Common Language 
   (See Oxford Dictionary - where "Class" might also remind 
   social ranking that is to say some obsolete social thinking).    (08)
