I should also clarify that
"SOA and X" would mean 2 things: (a) How the disciple has been affected by SOA,
or (b) How the discipline can be applied to SOA. An example of (a) would be
content management (as I mentioned below), while an example of (b) would be
Semantic Technologies - i.e. how Semantic Technologies are applied to
SOA.

quickly during breaks, so please pardon the sporadicity) From: soa-forum-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx on behalf of Chiusano Joseph Sent: Fri 6/9/2006 11:48 AM To: Service-Oriented Architecture CoP; Service-Oriented Architecture CoP Subject: [Additional Suggestion] RE: [soa-forum] Second SOA for E-GovernmentConference -Conference Theme and Session Topics I have a conference theme
suggestion that I would like to present that incorporates and extends some of
the excellent suggestions put forth thus far. I often think about how SOA is
changing/has changed various technology areas (an example of a technology
area would be content management) - for example, this is how I did content
management before SOA, and this is how I can do it now, and here are the
benefits, etc. Though I don't have a title to suggest, the notion would be "SOA
and X", where X is a technology area (please feel free to use a different term
than "technology area".
Off the top of my head, some examples of
technology areas would be:
- Enterprise Architecture (for which
"technology area" is not the correct term, I realize - need a better term -
perhaps "application area" or "discipline"?)
- Business Process Management
(BPM)
- Semantic Technologies
- Data Architecture, Modeling, and Metadata
(can include Data Management under Data Architecture)
- Content and Document
Management
- Business Intelligence
etc.
So the presentations would be focused on
"SOA and Enterprise Architecture", "SOA and BPM", etc. (you get the idea).
Perhaps each of these could be separate tracks.
I think that this approach would enable us
to reach additional audiences beyond those that we reached for last month's
conference, and really give attendees a sense of where SOA fits in their
"world". So it would really be about "looking in towards SOA" from other
perspectives (perhaps this may give us a hint at a good title).
Thanks,
Joe
