Pat, (01)
What I expected is that after so many years at least hyperlinks to a textual
definition of these terms would be available. How else can you discuss about
anything if you don't define clearly what you mean with that anything? (02)

Subject: [ontac-forum] RE: introduction - TopLevel hierachy links (04)
Hans,
Just a quick reply to one question. I am posting this to the general
list, as it is a question that others may have. (05)
>> I have placed on our web site
(http://colab.cim3.net/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?CosmoWG/TopLevel) a very preliminary
simplified merged ontology (taxonomy only, for discussion
purposes) containing elements from OpenCyc, SUMO, and DOLCE, but only a few
from ISO15926. Perhaps you have some insights into where other parts of
ISO15926 might fit. The question here is to find some simplified structure
that would be broadly acceptable to a large number of users.
[HT] I am willing to spend time on that, but when I click on any of the
objects I get the message Editing Denied! But I don't want to edit, only to
read and understand. Can you help? (06)
What you have encountered is the operation of the Wiki page-creation
mechanism. The links you see are of two types: the ones that point to
existing pages (they go where you expect them to), and ones that point to
pages that have not yet been created. The SUMO class references will in
most cases send your browser to the pages that define the SUMO classes.
These links were painstakingly added by Adam Pease, to whom many thanks are
owed. (07)
There will, however, be dummy pseudo-links (especially to OpenCyc
classes) because the Wiki mechanism interprets every word in "CamelCase"
(mixed upper and lower-case words) as being a pointer to another Wiki page.
If that page doesn't already exist, then clicking on that pseudo-pointer
will bring you to an editing page, where you can add in anything you like,
which is the great virtue of the Wiki mechanism. (08)
But you have to have editing privileges, and if you don't you will get
the page you saw. It is simple to get editing privileges, you just
have to create an account. At the top right of the ONTACWG wiki pages you
will see the Statue of Liberty icon, underneath which is a line saying
"(login | create account)" -- if you are not already logged in. The login
mechanism doesn't work at this point, so if you see that, you will have to
create an account by clicking on the 'create account'
phrase. You will get a page with the usual name and password boxes,
but you will also have to fill in a box that requires that you read and
enter the letters and numbers of a distorted image (protection against
spammers and automatic editing). If the image is too hard to read, refresh
the page and get a new image. You should be able to create the account
quickly. Then you will be able to edit. (09)
Since login doesn't work, you shouldn't log out. But after
connectivity is broken, you may have to create a new account. Not really
that much trouble. (010)
I have also created a version of that hierarchy in OWL, and if you have an
OWL viewer (I use Protege-OWL), you should be able to view it that way --
but the links to the original SUMO pages are not present in the OWL version.
