    State Chief Information Officers (CIOs), as the primary caretakers of their states’ information technology (IT) infrastructures, are cognizant of the roles that information systems play in supporting law enforcement, public safety, public health, and emergency management service delivery. State CIOs also have a role in helping state Homeland Security directors achieve the national goals for Homeland Security systems and information sharing.
