I'm very interested in this, especially in as much as the OASIS SOA
Reference Model has been approved and the TC's Reference Architecture
Subcommittee is hard at it to produce a Reference Architecture in
explicit detail. (01)
I'm also just getting my feet wet at a major civilian health system
assessing the prospect and the likely path toward extending the
beginning of and the ongoing roll out of a large scale Healthcare EHR
system that could well be an excellent example of either good
intentional SOA or less wonderful, unintentional, accretion-based
defacto SOA. The latter is likely to be the pattern unless true
interoperability is supported by the very vendors whose core
marketing genii are, shall we say, exemplars of any number of bad
puns on the ESB acronym that they continue to spell L-O-C-K-I-N. (02)
