You're welcome Cory. I also covered the worldwide XML community after sending my e-mail below (the XML-DEV listserv). Come one, come all. The more collaboration, the better!

Brand et al,

I announced our initiative to 6 OASIS TCs (including SOA-RM and E-Government), as well as the top OASIS staff, including the conference call tomorrow morning for the SOA Demo and the Call for Presentations for the SOA for E-Government Conference. I stressed that this is a "come one, come all" effort - all are invited and encouraged to participate.

I will also coordinate with Robin Cover to get an announcement in the XML Cover Pages (I suspect Robin will jump on it today, as I cc'd him on one of the TC announcements).

Joe and Cory, I really like the way this was discussed and handled.

Joe, Please publicize the SOA CoP and SOA for E-Government Conference widely to OASIS, etc. for their involvement - the more the better is our hope.

Best regards, Brand

That's an even better idea. So sorry, I didn't realize that this was actually being evolved within this CoP, which I am very happy to hear (see what happens when I go out of town for a few days, and my brain relaxes too much:).

I will announce this effort within the OASIS SOA-RM TC and the Reference Architecture subcommittee, with an invitation to participate. Would anyone like me to also announce it to the OASIS E-Government TC?

Joe

Joe,

In that this is already a fully open effort I don’t know that anything has to be “donated”, Oasis and Oasis members can engage in, support and utilize the current effort as sponsored by the SOA-COP.  Perhaps you could arrange and invitation for a collaboration of the communities?

We are not currently Oasis members (since the initial EbXML days) and I am sure many of the other potential participants are not as well, the CoP seems to provide a great forum for collaboration without having to formalize and pay for participation in a particular organization.  So my suggestion would be to keep it in the CoP while inviting participation of Oasis and other organizations.

Would there perhaps be any interest in donating this to the OASIS SOA Reference Model (SOA-RM) technical committee, for their newly formed SOA Reference Architecture subcommittee, and evolving it within that effort? I am a member of that technical committee and subcommittee, and this work could be very valuable for our efforts.

Thanks,

Joe

In the telcon today we discussed the initiation of the SOA demo based on strawman located at:

http://colab.cim3.net/file/work/SICoP/SOACoP/SOA%20Community%20of%20Practice%20Demo.doc

We are ready to move forward on this and would like to form the core team.  Our next step will be to define the plan forward and refine the specification.

If you are interested in participating in the formation of the demo please reply with your email address and contact information.  We will be setting up a phone meeting for next week.

Regards,

Cory Casanave
