Subject: SOA for E-Gov, NCOIC, Event Processing, and Grids

 Brand:

I've enjoyed listening to the SOA for E-Gov conference remotely. The synergy between the Tuesday afternoon agenda and my Network Centric Operations Industry Consortium (NCOIC.org) sessions is especially interesting.

The proceedings for the recent "Event Processing for Net-Centric Operations" session (that you and Steven attended)  will be sent out shortly.  I think that they will be available to attendees of the SOA for E-conference.  I am trying to set up a follow-on session for some of NCOIC's government customers with a focus on possible standardizations for future Event Processing applications (e.g. reference models, event representations, pattern matching languages).

FYI: For the December NCOIC Plenary in Florida (12/3-12/7), I am working with the head of the Open Grid Forum (OGF) on a "Open Grid Services for Net-Centric Operations" session. The goal of this meeting is to explore the full spectrum of  emerging distributed virtualized computing environments. I'm believe that the "fabrics"  featured in your afternoon session are an important component of these environments.  Anyone who is interested in the NCOIC meeting can contact me to learn more details as the agenda takes shape.

The theme of the NCOIC session is responding to the DoD CIO's Grid Architecture Vision Document www.defenselink.mil/cio-nii/docs/GIGArchVision.pdf (technical vision on page 28)  "Grid computing technologies that provide support and manage an assured federation of heterogeneous computing, storage, and communications assets available from the GIG infrastructure, and managed as Grid Services by NetOps"

   Bob Marcus

P.S. SAIC's Semantic SOA (SSOA)  is an important initiative for the interfacing of Event Processing, Fabrics, Mashups, and other leading edge technologies.  I think that its evolution will be followed with interest by other system suppliers and integrators.
