Julie Gefke is the Privacy and Security Officer for the Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Financing, and serves as a general privacy consultant to other state and local agencies as well. (610)
Prior to her current position with the State of Colorado, Julie worked at the National Institute of Justice, USDOJ, as a Senior Policy Analyst, working on criminal justice/public safety information system integration and interoperability; concentrating on privacy and security for integrated justice systems and crime labs. Prior to that, Julie worked as a criminal/juvenile justice policy analyst for the National Conference of State Legislatures, and taught several courses in criminal justice and privacy law. Julie has a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology/Criminal Justice from the University of Houston, a Master of Forensic Sciences degree from The George Washington University, and a law degree from the University of Houston Law Center. She is licensed to practice law in the state of Colorado. Julie also recently participated in the Harvard University, JFK School of Government, Program for Senior Executives in State and Local Government. (611)
