Blogs (Web Logs) (3NNX)

A blog ("web log") is a website where updates are added sequentially in chronological or reverse chronological order. Blogs also include an "RSS" (really simple syndication) feed that allows visitors to subscribe to the blog. This allows the visitor to receive updates without returning to the source website. Blogs are generally characterized by their ease of use. Many blogs also provide the visitor with the opportunity to post comments to published content. The owner of the blog controls this particular feature. (3NO0)

How can we use Blogs? (3NO2)

Outreach (3NO4)
- Calendar of Events: Blogs can be far more than forums for personal expression. Because the entries can be posted to a website in reverse chronological order and because visitors can subscribe to the content using the RSS feed, they can be used to present any information that fits this format. Point in case: the calendar of events. Events can easily be listed using blogging software. Visitors can subscribe to that calendar and others. The value to the visitor is that all the calendars to which they subscribe will automatically be aggregated in the reader of their choice. For example, if a user is interested in several lecture or seminar series offered by different organizations, the user could subscribe to each calendar and all new events would automatically be pulled into the user's reader.
