SOA CoP Co-Chair

Toward More Transparent Government
Workshop on eGovernment and the Web
18 - 19 June 2007
United States National Academy of Sciences
Washington DC, USA
Jointly sponsored by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and the Web
Science Research Initiative (WSRI)

Call for Papers at:
http://www.w3.org/2007/eGov/eGov-policy-cfp.html

Dear SOA CoP,

The World Wide Web Consortium is an international consortiumwhere
over 400 Member organizations, a full-time staff, and the public work
together to develop Web standards.

As part of its long-range planning, W3C staff are currently engaged
in organizing a series of discussions to understand better the needs
of Government in deploying current Web standards and the directions
that future Web standards should take to best address delivery of
Government services. Our next action is the workshop of reference above.

This Workshop will help find ways of facilitating the deployment of
Web standards across eGovernment sites, and help shape the ongoing
research agenda in the development of Web technology and public
policy in order to realize the potential of the Web for access to and
use of government information.

Among the questions to be explored, we would like to get some papers
gathering practice, use cases and demos of the Semantic Web in the
Government space.

I encourage you to send position papers (please see requirement in
the CfP referred above) on that topic or other os your interest
within the scope of the workshop.

Deadline for position papers was 2 May but please, those interested
send email urgently to José M. Alonso at <josema@xxxxxx> with an
_expression_ of interest and I'll talk to the other chairs in order to
review them and extend it for a couple days more based on their
feedback on a case by case basis.

Best Regards,
José Manuel Alonso
eGovernment Lead
CTIC/W3C
