The new "Guidelines for the Construction, Format, and Management of

Monolingual Controlled Vocabularies" (ANSI/NISO Z39.19) have been

completed and published. Finally!

The new standard takes into account the existance of the web, as well

as the tremendous growth in databases and info retrieval systems in the

decades since the standard was first issued. This document contains a

wealth of information - just check out the bibliography if nothing

else.
