The Health IT Ontology Project (HITOP) group will benefit from the foundation
of knowledge, research and projects that will result from the cBio.    (01)

As the HITOP group moves toward scheduling its second meeting soon, including
establishing its Mission Statement, sharing knowledge of the current best
practices of ontology techniques, and consideration of ontology software for
testing in HIT applications -- your discussions and work should continteue to
offer effective insights on frameworks, directions and strategies. I am
positively looking forward to these discussions.    (02)

Subject: [ontac-forum] Possible source of grants for some work on COSMO    (04)

The recent establishment of the National Center for Biomedical Ontology
(cBio) as a component of the National Centers for Biomedical Computing
provides for a collaborative partnership under which grants may be
received for work related to biomedical computing. Work on the
component of the suggested COSMO-WG project in which the UMLS Semantic
Network will be linked to upper ontologies may qualify for one of these
grants. For grant proposal details see:
     http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/pa-files/PAR-05-063.html    (05)

The next deadline for receipt of Grant Letters of Intent for this
program is December 19, 2005. If anyone is interested in applying for
one of these grants, check the referenced page. If any proposed work
will relate to the COSMO-WG effort, we should coordinate our proposals.
You can send me a note directly to the e-mail below. I will not myself
be able to apply for one of these grants, but will be working to help
coordinate the effort to develop a COSMO.    (06)
