CALL FOR PARTICIPATION

Deadline for Abstract Submission is 5:00 p.m. Eastern, Wednesday, April 12, 2006.

The FCW Media Group, producer of FCW Events and publisher of Federal Computer Week, is pleased to announce a Call for Participation for the 6th Enterprise Architecture Conference, to be held September 11-13, 2006 at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington, DC. This is your opportunity to recommend session topics and speakers for consideration in the largest EA event for the public sector.

The Enterprise Architecture 2006 Conference and Exhibition will bring together more than 1,000 government professionals and their industry counterparts.  This popular event attracts attendees who are planning, implementing, and evolving Enterprise Architectures across most federal government agencies.  The EA 2006 Conference program will focus on practical, actionable, and meaningful strategies, technologies, and case studies for program managers and IT professionals.  This event is recognized for offering a comprehensive program of the most pressing issues for government practitioners in this rapidly evolving field. 

ABSTRACT SELECTION

Individuals whose abstracts are selected for the conference program will be notified by July 14, 2006. Those selected will be required to provide session-specific information prior to the conference, including (1) a brief professional biography and (2) complete presentation materials for inclusion in the conference proceedings. Each member of the conference faculty is entitled to one complimentary full conference pass.

CALL FOR PARTICIPATION

 

The Enterprise Architecture 2006 Conference will bring together architecture, IT, and program management professionals from government, industry, and academia.  This diverse group will focus for three days on the current concerns, developments, and opportunities for those charged with practical implementation of Enterprise Architectures across complex government organizations.  This is a recognized annual gathering of the public sector EA community and is designed to be an interactive, professionally-enriching education and networking experience. 

The speakers and topics selected will be those most closely focused on helping government professionals meet their Enterprise Architecture objectives.  Participation as a member of the conference faculty will provide a valuable opportunity to share expertise and recommendations with motivated colleagues focused on Enterprise Architecture and related programs designed to transform government operations.

 

PROGRAM ADVISORY BOARD

 

The Enterprise Architecture 2006 Conference will be designed in close collaboration with an independent Program Advisory Board that provides guidance to ensure priority topics and qualified speakers are selected to participate in this popular professional education program.  The Program Advisory Board includes representatives who are active in Enterprise Architecture initiatives in the public sector, as well as their counterparts from industry and academia.

 

CONTENT GUIDELINES & TOPICS

 

The Enterprise Architecture 2006 Program Advisory Board is interested in presentations that:

·         Include government presenters – public sector speakers and submissions receive first priority

·         Address how government agencies are using EA to align programs and improve business operations

·         Discuss successful government EA programs--including their challenges, risks, and results to date

·         Highlight government organizations using EA to meet mission and business objectives

·         Provide “how-to” information -- case studies with measurable results for integrated EA programs

·         Offer recommendations to establish, evaluate, and adapt EA programs to meet changing requirements

·         Share the practical experience of EA professionals to align architectures for business results

 

You are encouraged to submit abstracts on the following topics that will help government information technology and program managers to:

·         Deploy Service-Oriented Architectures (SOA) successfully in the Federal Government

·         Understand best and worst practices based on recent government EA experience

·         Market initiatives across diverse agency operations

·         Employ EA strategies and tools to meet specific government agency goals

·         Plan effectively for new EA programs and enable maturation of EA programs in place

·         Use portfolio management and performance measurement tools--moving beyond the theory

·         Implement enterprise data management within existing infrastructures

·         Improve EA stakeholder communications and engagement

·         Create effective EA governance and performance metrics for decision-support

·         Align business, management, and technology objectives to meet agency plans

·         Leverage EA to support Line-of-Business (LOB) mandates

·         Apply EA in decision support for IT investments and portfolio management

 

Abstracts on EA technology and strategy also will be considered, such as:

·         Service-Oriented Architectures -- definitions, real-world examples, and government applications

·         Practical approaches to integration EA into existing and changing environments

·         Data management for Enterprise Architects

·         Factors that cause EA implementations to fail and how to avoid common pitfalls

·         Adapting EA to organizational culture

·         Evolving technology to supports current and emerging EA programs

·         Recommended best practices for managing enterprise architectures

·         Evolution of the Federal Data Reference Model  (DRM) -- what’s new and what to expect

·         Government and commercial case studies that demonstrate the transformational potential of using EA

·         Lessons learned from less-than-successful programs and how to detect flaws in your EA strategy

 

Abstract Submission Requirements

 

Please ensure abstracts include the requested information to ensure your submission is reviewed.  Topics selected for inclusion will be those addressing current and compelling issues, strategies, and technologies relevant to the government audience.

 

Each abstract should include the following information:

  • A 200-word synopsis explaining the topic to be covered and why it is of compelling interest to the public sector audience
  • Three to five learning objectives that briefly describe specifically “What Attendees Will Learn”
  • A summary of handouts/takeaways that attendees can expect to receive, such as case studies, white papers, top ten lists, etc.
  • An indication if the speaker(s) proposed will participate on a panel related to your submission
  • Brief professional biography of proposed speaker(s)

 

NOTE:  Vendor abstracts focused on product-specific information or those including commercial or promotional content will not be considered.  All FCW Events are a “sales-pitch free” learning environment.
